On August 12th 2012, during the International Youth Day (http://www.un.org/en/events/youthday/), MasterPeace Cameroon Club will launch a national competition entitled ''What Are You Doing for Peace ?''. The contest will call children aged from 7 to 14 years and youth aged from 15 to 25 years to submit artworks in drawing, music, essay and painting categories on the theme of the 2012 International Day of Peace which is ‘’Sustainable peace for a Sustainable future’’ (http://www.un.org/en/events/peaceday/). The contest will take place in-schools and out of schools and will contribute to increase awareness on the celebration of peace as an asset to national development as well as on the role MasterPeace Cameroon plays to achieve that goal.
The winners in each category of the contest will be invited to present their artwork at the 2012 International Day of Peace's celebration in Yaoundé, Cameroon during a public concert. They will also receive special prizes from MasterPeace Cameroon Club local partners. They will be promoted at the event on September 21st and in the media. That will give a visibility to their work all around the country. MasterPeace Cameroon will also engage them in its activities and events through the journey to the biggest concert in September 2014 in the Cairo, Egypt. Therefore they will all have a chance to join that concert at the pyramids.
The contest will be a national competition with only children and youth between the ages mentioned above able to enter and run a chance to be a winner. The deadline to participate will be September 12th 2012 at midnight GMT. Entries will be sent by postmail and email to MasterPeace Cameroon Club’s postal address at French embassy street, P.O Box: 20.387 Yaoundé, Cameroon and by email at email@example.com. More details about the rules of the contest, the criteria to enter and for selection of the winners will be posted in the coming days, before the official launch on 12th of August. The winners will be announced in the local press and online on September 17th 2012. All winners will also be notified by email and phone calls. The list of all winners will be posted on MasterPeace website and in several other youth groups websites.
There is a need to get involved many volunteers from Cameroon and worldwide. Most of them will be needed to support the contest with advertisement, promotion, outreach, publicity, mobilization of participants and feedback on its development. There will also be a need to identify volunteers to join the jury that will do the evaluation of all submissions and select the winners.
All MasterPeace Cameroon regional Clubs will be involved to mobilize participants all around the country. The regional Clubs will then play a great role in this regards and on a daily basis. Their members will be needed to actively engage themselves in the contest development in order to ensure its success at the end. If you want to know where is the closest MasterPeace Cameroon regional Club in your city or if you want to volunteer with us to develop and implement this competition, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of July 2012 and we will be happy to get you involved.
On the occasion of the 2012 International Day of Peace and the Rio+20 UN Conference, the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, said "I urge everyone, between now and 21 September, to think about how they can contribute. Let us work together to ensure that the Road from Rio leads us to sustainable development, sustainable peace… and a secure future for all." Because peace is a verb, MasterPeace aims to Create peace. Together.
